Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following wars: World War II (WWII), Korean War. General description of the collection: The Virgil M. Ney photograph collection consists of photos from Colonel Ney's varied career. He had an interest in firearms and historic weapons, which is revealed by the presence of several photos of various miscellaneous old weapons. He was involved in programs at Fort Benning, Georgia for dependant boys from 1941 to 1944, and there are photos showing him with groups of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts and others. A few photos show Filipino guerrillas and soldiers in Luzon in mid-1945. There are dozens of portraits of Japanese defendants from the Far East War Crimes Trials of 1946 to 1948. There is also a set of photos of soldier sporting events in 1949, and photos of Military District of Washington subjects in 1949, including activities of Assistant Secretary of the Army, Hugh M. Milton, II. A series of photos covers the visit of Danish Army officers to Gettysburg College in 1951. The remainder of the collection focuses on Korea in 1954 and 1955. These show President Sygman Rhee; Republic of Korea (ROK) Army soldiers in training and psychological warfare troops of the ROK Army; and scenes around Kwang-Ju and Taegu.
